In an era without fuel known as Dry World, humanity has formed groups, each who hold different morals and values. These groups are called Families, created to maintain order between one another.

This changes when one of the Families, the Julius, create their own fuel called Vitality, more powerful than anything the world has seen. This propels their power and control over the other Families, sparking a war that demonstrates humanity’s greed and wickedness.

This story follows a diverse cast: a bounty hunter still haunted from the previous war, two sibling refugees, a girl banished from her Family, a dying assassin on his final mission, and a prince who abandoned home to serve as a soldier.

In the wake of the ensuing war, these outcasts are forced away from their homes, and needing each other to survive, they must set aside their differences to find their place in Dry World. While doing so, they learn that even though they are all from different Families, they still have more in common than expected.
